The Place that Sarah Loved

On Sunday, August 26th a small group from First Congregational UCC Portland and Camp Adams joined Bruce and Judy Bishop for the installation of a replacement ceramic plaque to mark a place in the forest of Camp Adams that Sarah loved. Sarah Bishop was a camper, counselor, and staff member who grew-up in the First Congregational UCC Portland church family.

Sarah died August 24, 2004 doing what she loved best-- hiking around Mt. Hood in the forests of Oregon. For those of us involved in summer youth camps at Camp Adams, even if we did not have have the privilege of knowing her, Sarah's infectious love of camp and the out-of-doors is still very present. Remembering Sarah in the space that she loved is to honor her still present spirit and to use her stories as a way to remember the sacredness of this space and the youth summer camp programming at Camp Adams.
